Happy iOS New Year!
I celebrated my birthday last week (12/25 - lol) turning a bright 32!
Boy do I feel my age LOL here's a list of things that have changed since saying good-by to my 20s
-TIRED TIRED: I recently changed jobs; shortened commute time, switched to less stressful job and I'm still tired. I attribute it halfway to age and to my habits. I tell people all the time being vegan is still not a pass, I still need to eat a better diet that consists of more raw foods and again less 'vegan junk'. I've decided to go gluten free and for me that's pretty easy change as I don't eat alot breads rice or pasta for me this means buckwheat (instead of oatmeal) and no breads (eating out) and continue to stick to veggie wraps.
-CONCENTRATION: Lawwd now I kinda feel I was in denial of this but music + work = caplady cannot concentrate lol. Honestly I've grown alot anyway DC has killed gogo music, rap/r&B sucks.. so I listen to alot of beneficial podcasts, CNBC/Bloomberg streaming through out my day and honestly if I need background
-PATIENCE: Man I'm pondering if technology has ruined my brain
note: actual post date 3/14/2014 - SMH 3 months later clearly not complete but trying to re-active my blog life
title will make sense in a moment (see next post)

I have time to blog now.. Hello!
let see in the last year what's been up?
-Work: Quit my job at the big 4 much happier now.. still loving and working in infosecurity but the consultant life ay...I say this as we fedcontractor & govvies arise back from our furlough "holiday" meh...giving myself 1-2 years top I want to be working purely in the commercial work. My dream job is amazon.com which is in the DC Area trust I will get a job there!!
-NBA season soon: still playing fantasy basketball and venting about my Wizards. I guess my Lakers are gonna suck this year.. RIP Dr. Buss we are in turmoil
-Weight Loss: Not only have I kept my weight off from my highest weight ever to know I'm down a smooth 70 lbs.. but since late 2011 I've lost about 50 lbs.. amazing seriously. I'm down from 16/18 to 12.. I've never been this small EVER (as an adult). Yes the veganism helps but the exercise and the no car life in DC helps. I can now bike to work with my new job and I still walk everywhere.
-Half Marathon: Ran the inaugural Washington DC NIKE HalfMarathon in April: Again my old coworkers were the ones behind me getting in shape they run the marine corps, army 10 miler all the popular races so they were like leave that 5k baby stuff behind and go for the gold. Jogging is still growing on me but all winter I did my lil runs around the city..and ran (& WALKED ALOT) that joint in about 3 hours.
Let me tell you the next day this 31 year old body was in PAIN like slow walk pain LOL. What was most embarrassing my cowoker >50 did the race she was fine the next day. Horrible..my training was bad I did not get enough long runs (>.10miles) in so I shocked my body but damit I made it through the finish line and I would love to run this race again.
-Current Obsessions:
Technology, Technology, Technology - Before I get into this let me stamp that I've been a gadget junkie since a kid. Seriously in my only child world I was always an executive (cappy trait) LOL I had a filofax organizer as a kid, my family laced me with all gadgets the 1st was the almighty casio electronic organizer
and yes I had the ORIGINAL Palm Pilot during my last year of middle school.. 1st computer by 1995. My senior year of high school I was interning at our town's only internet service provider.. so again STAMPED geeked from the 90s baby LOL
Anyway I'm loving this era we are in.. coding/development is cool, gadgets are a plenty the internet has soo much for learning/growing. Social media overload - I've calmed down with twitter (got old), IG i like and FB will always be there but I do take SM breaks time to time-- its soo easy to get caught up.
Given my maturation as IT chick- tech is fun but I realize to make it you have to tie to business value. So tech strategy blogs/articles are my new thing. I'm sooo sad to see how Blackberry has faltered but I enjoy reading and watching the OS/Phone/Internet/Startup wars that are going on these days
My current tech portfolio: Phones I have 2 LOL - my main line is blackberry - I'm sorry and i did try but i need a physical keyboard ..i just do. My 2nd phone is Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (rooted) with Sprint (unlimited data) it serves as my modem to keep my ipad computer and friends gadgets online when we are in a pinch lol. Basic dell laptop, my old kindle DX (great for reading). I plan to build a badazz PC next year to help serve for virtualization testing and I do want a MBP.
Juicing: Move over vitamix j/k green smoothies 4 life but my treat to getting a new job in August was the purchase of an Omega Juicer - Love Love Love green juice .. working my way up mentally to do a juice fast one day
Apple: not the fruit...so I am an Android fangirl however when my job gave me the iphone last year; life changed LOL. I was able to understand the apple fan'ism the phone was simple too simple but easy to use and practical. Coupled with the fact that apps still goto iOS first I've purchased the 64GB - Retina ipad and that joint is my baby! I do want a macbook (eventually) but that $$$$$$$ Apple is overrated but its a lifestyle and those purchasing financially are capable hence the extraordinary sales.
Shopping: Not so much these days LOL...one I had to take a hiatus during the weight loss as my clothing size was all over the place so if It wasn't coming from a target sale rack - I did not buy. Major progress as many many people reminded me that I wouldn't be caught dead in target clothes a few years ago LOL. I have not purchased a designer bag in almost 2 year. that's all I gotta say about this topic people can change. Don't get it twisted the capricorn in me still love nice high end things but I'm learning how to be more financially responsible and purchase things not so spontaneous.
Welp that's its folks.. I'm hoping seriously to blog more and I want to migrate this blog to my own domain as I've learned how to manage wordpress sites..well see LOL

1 Day until the glamorous Capricorn Season Starts
The origin of the word solstice, which comes from Latin solstitium, from sol, “sun” and -stitium, “a stoppage.” Following the winter solstice, the days begin to grow longer and the nights shorter. Historically its been a time of celebration and its been associated with explanining the orgin of Christmas and other holidays around this time of year. So take some time out tomorrow and celebrate!
-------
Pardon my absence.. the last few weeks I tried to blog.. see proof below all the *DRAFT* half attempts at posting
many times in the last month i tried to blog but my jobs has DRAINED a sista like to the point I come home and I don't even want to get on the PC and thats like never happened before.. but let me explain why we have been swamped over at the D-Dept because of this "DOD bans the use of removable, flash-type drives on all government computers"
Quick summary :
So because of some bamma's negligence my life has been a living hell. Lately I have stopped complaining because seriously every other headline in the Post is about some layoffs so I'm very bless to have a job in this turbulent time. I should be able to keep to my precious job if the pace of our workload continues like it has been. Due to that incident 3 huge taskers from the power high above came down with deadlines of ASAP so since we have 'ish scattered world wide takes time to collect the answers that need to be reported to the higher power above. Alas, I just chalk this up as a big learning experience for a person in her mid-twenties/mid-career. Its good to know that the work I do is important to protection the nation's info. The Defense Department has banned the use of removable flash media and storage devices from all government computers, according to a series of notices put out by the services this week.
The action comes following reports that a worm virus known as "Agent.btz" was discovered infecting some DOD networks, according to Wired magazine.
Enuff about work!
I'm actually hosting my b-day bowling party tonight so I can't "talk" long I'll be back with another post hopefully this week.. lots to talk about..catch up my black friday shopping till 4am story.. my new shopping finds.. My addiction to the new Beyonce and Keyshia Coles cds..kirkin on DC area sportsHope everyone is enjoying the holidays!!

presenting ....... HM
My Asian co-worker broke down the science behind this hobby. Basically the art is to grow the tree so that its stays miniature and grows in a design that is breath taking.
It's time to update my wants list.. after years of surviving with a broke Dooney & Bouke wristlet with a broke zipper and that replacement D&B that broke, I finally caught a Macys sale the featured a reduced Coach Wristlets. Coupled with my xmas gift card I saved, bought the total bill to 18$ for:
I have a new item on the list $20 Chanel nailpolish.
Anyway I'm sad to say I'm displeased with the MAC laquer.
I'm done the Kimora book which was WAY better than what I thought Full review will be up by the weekend.
Mom in town only 2 more days loving the QT but tired of the naggin lol must go now and put out some laundry for her to wash tomorow while I'm at work since apparently, I don't do a good job lol.

Enjoying tonight's full moon
The Moon is in Capricorn all day. We are especially aware of the need for structure and planning ahead under this influence, and we are instinctively aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success--achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
Full moon energy can be felt days after the actual event has ended..but moving on...
My mom's in town for a week. Takes a while for us to warm back up to sharing a living space but we enjoy each others company(eventually)- we both won't be around forever, so have to make the most of of the visit. Possible trip to see the DC panda on Monday or maybe go see the new baby sea turtle at the DC Aquarium.
My aunt came to drop off my mom to my apt while I was work. I asked her to pick me up a new plant because one of mines died. I currently have 1 cactus, 1 plant (passed down from a coworker i don't know what the hell it is) and my old spider plant that I killed because it got too much sun light. So I specifically tell her buy a new plant that can live in apartment or chill on the balcony LOW MAINTENANCE! Now ask me what I found when I got home from work.
That is an Bonsai Ficus Ginseng Plant. Actually when I googled it bammas on-line said its a Tree not a plant. She bought me a tree for my apt!!! Bonsai at that, I've seen those folks on tv with the tool sets snipping away- I'm not a gardener I don't have time to treat a plan like a child- plus I think she was secretly mocking me and my natural lifestyle. Like I drink ginseng tea am I supposed to hack at my plant when I have the need for energy- LMAO on that note I'm out.
Ill post some pics of my actual "tree" lata.

sippin on some Theraflu.. waiting on the snow
Here's the manual version of what I'm listening to: Allison Crocket- Return of Diva Blue- 11-track CD album comprising a collection of remixes based on tracks from her debut album 'On Becoming A Woman' - a sensuous soul tour de force that blended elements of Jill Scott, Meshell N'degeocello & UK broken beat visionaries 4-Hero; featuring mixes by a who's who of top flight DJ producers including DJ Spinna, Yam Who?, Phil Asher, Mark De Clive-Lowe, Waiwan, Landslide and more. Kudos Records. 2006. * Vinyl pressing also available.
I'm trying to get in the habit of blogging daily or at least writing something everyday its getting better.. I really need to work on my poem compilation cuz my one word doc of poems is getting OC its like 30pages and i have slips of paper all over the house of pieces of poems I've started and left alone not cool at all.. and speaking of poetry my fav poet of all time is coming to do a speech at UDC tomorrow.. Nikki Giovanni. I'm excited but kinda of scared b/c of the inclement weather strolling through DC.. like i know if i don't go to work im not going all the way UPT to UDC but.. she released a new book last month so she's currently promoting that joint..
I realized I'm a chain smoker.. that is I light insents back 2 back 2 back 2 back lol... I have issues. I normally buy 3 bags at my shop (shout outs to Herbal Essence @ pg plaza) every payday and normally I'm empty prior to getting paid again.. sad!!
My god-son has not been born yet he's officially one day late now!! I'm like it would be cute for him to be born tomorrow V-day but um.. I can't get to Ft. Belvoir hospital in the icy conditions and I think its kinda gay for a male to be born in v-day so lets shoot for 15 Feb.. but this boy man his knocking knocking on being a Pisces (Feb 19th) vs Aquarius.. and trust having two Aries parents (god bless the boy.. he'll need to be a aloof to survive them and not be an emotional water sign).. but I'll think he'll be here in a few days..
Friday I'm going to a 70's Jam. I can't comment on my outfit for free that other people going will see my post and copy my vicious outfit but trust the fro will be on display!!
On a serious not before I go.. I been having mad turmoil in my life re: the heart and soul of me: my job :( Now i just had my 1 year anniversary as being a contractor on 6 Feb and a week later my boss sat me down and said after 28 Feb my component of our current NON EXPIRING contract was being removed.. with out getting into all the details why; its not really the companies fault but this agency which i won't name because I don't want to be on the front page of the post as " lady fired from agency for frying them in a blog" lmao but this agency is very unorganized in the way they wish to manage contracts. Needless to say this hurt my first time being a contractor and this is what they always warn you about- the instability of it all.. So my boss is working hard looking for opportunities within our company because they don't want to loose me and I know she is trying hard for a young sister because she called me at home to give me a daily update and I appreciate that. But in the meantime I have to look out for me just incase all things go bad. My friends (monster/hotjobs/dice) have been good to me again.. My goal was 10 apps a week and I did 5 today and by time i got home I had 3 email inquiries and 1 phone call (one place was really pressed) and i know its the clearance that keeps me afloat but now I look in the lessons in all these roadblocks in my life, instead of being emotional upset and although this was my 1st time being a contractor I have been working at this agency for 5 years (June 07) and i got spurned on the gov't side and now this situation as a ctr.. so I"m like is God trying to push me out? I know I'm VERY comfortable there.. like i have great friends and this place is relaxed in all aspects like as long as you do your work, don't disrespect nobody you will be aight taking a long lunch.. aight getting to work late.. aight leaving early ya'll know the gov't but again I'm looking at these new opportunities and trying to not be scared of the change because I really am.. and on that note I"m out cuz this theraflu has me feeling good.. feeling great!

dont forget we start the year/end the year (Jan/ Dec)
meant to get this blog in earlier cuz Jan 20. starts the time of the odd but intriguing Aquarius.. but
alas..I must blog about the BEST ASTROLOGY BOOK EVER.. my girl put me on to Sexstrology aka The Red Book.. and not this aint a freaky-deaky joint its well written, very detailed and using mythological gods to describe the 12 signs (+1 for me b/c I love Greek Mythlogy). This book made me slam it to the floor so many times becase they describe my good and bad qualities to a T! Let me highlight a few things I Found interesting.. Now let me add that this break downs each sign male/female so all I"m bout to recap is strickly for the cap_ladies:
1. We associated w/ the age group 63-70; which also goes a long way in exlaning her conservative unadorned style and love for funerary black granny glasses and cross pendants and other such religous talismans- Jive tru i used to feel old as a young girl..and my mannerisms sometimes are of that of an older lady esp when it comes to house and home and I do wear and ANKH everyday as necklace and ring and f-dat granny glasses my black square frame FENDI glasses are hot not granny (but someone called them granny glasses a few day ago)
2. We have a weakness for shopping at designer boutiques- quality is her credo- Ya'll know that from my blogs haha but again i just don't shop anywhere has to be Quality goods.. I've learned not go shopping w/ another cappy.. story my and my lil cappy step up in Pentagon city I was like girl don't let me buy ANYTHING today.. first store we step in - Nordstorms; I see some cute rainboots try them, start debating in my head. Here she go: Ooh girl they cute you should buy them Me: *Screaming* what happend to our pact your not helping the situation! Lesson learned!!
3.Sponteninty is an issue- Jive tru.. one of my girls now is working with me to get me out of living on a schedule. I put EVERYTHING on a schedule, even QT w/ loved ones- fucked up but I can't help it choas bothers me
4."she may downplay her sometimes extradinary good looks, weraing understated, even decidely unsexy clothes in dark, shawdowy hues- black being not only her fav color but one associated w/ her sign- intent upon remaining as inconspicous as possible"- LOL Tru I grew up only wearing dark colored clothes (My mom used to get mad she loved greens, oranges ,bright clothes) only really grew out of that by shopping w/ my Leo friend who wouldn't even wear dark clothes to a funeral (tru story she wore bright red to a funeral)..she convinced me pink is my color so only through her i mixed up my wardwrobe.. but my car is dark blue w/ illegal 20% tint (b/c I don't like to be seen LOL) and i know 3 cap ladies who die their hair jet black on purpose LOL
5."the Goag girl often mnifest physical eviden of her sign's metaphoric recuperation as actual scars, typically on her face"- This book is OC, I have scar on my eyebrown from when I had to get stiches as a child from crawling into a chair and who else has HUGE scar on the face- Mary J Blige
That's enough for now.. buy the book and be amazed!!
Its finally real winter weather and we have a fluke threat of snowy weather late sunday evening/ monday morning but a mere 1inch of snow (not enough for a storm) I'm not even getting my hopes up.
Today I went to the Washington Stage Guild to see a play called the Countess w/ some of my co-workers. It was great!! The play took place in the late 1800 and was about the turmoil marriage btw a young girl and her older husband who was a professor on Art and Art History. Basically his love for the asthetic beayty associated with paints etc carried over into his life for his wife, meaning he constantly scrutinzed her action, her beauty, her clothing etc.. Him and his wife and his young protegee went away to Switerland for some working vacation and basically young boy and wifey bonded and she began to realize how a man should treat a lady and they fell in love during the trip and basically she is able to annull her marriage on the grounds that they never consumated it (i.e have physcial relations) LOL I was rolling but the play was great. On the walk back to the metro my co-workers informed that the rule was still true today that if you don't get busy you can annull your marriage w/o any penatly! One thing that i LOVED was the language from the time period the chivarly and the way they address the woman when entering/exit a room.. anyone who knows me , knows I call myself a lady constantly and I would be geekin if men called me Countess Ke on a regular basis, bid me good day and all that jazz
Here's my official information on the play:
The Countess by Gregory Murphy - An Area Premiere
Directed by Bill Largess
January 4 through February 4, 2007
In one of the greatest scandals of Victorian England, renowned critic John Ruskin's young wife divorced him to marry his protégé, the painter John Everett Millais. The public revelations made about Ruskin, a widely respected writer who influenced Wilde and tangled with Whistler, would be surprising today; in the 19th Century they were shattering. Yet who suffered the more by airing them: Ruskin himself, or his youthful wife, known ironically to their circle as "the Countess"? Her struggle to assert her right to a normal life in the face of his manipulative deceptions makes The Countess a fascinating drama with contemporary resonances on every page. This production will be the area premiere of this long-running Off-Broadway hit.
last topic of the night:
Ke was a bad bad bad girl Friday afterwork..went to tysons w/ lil cappy (mentioned in the Pentagon City story) it was payday friday...she needed an outfit for a fashion I was just ready to shop (within a budget of 100$). Strike one get to the mall I have no check cards no cash, and no banks nearby. So everystore i went in had to ask if they accept checks (embarring) but my money was good but that did stop me from buying stuff in stores like Forever 21 etc could only write checks in official retail stores.. but what made the day bad bad bad was this:
Now this guess bag was in Bakers..cuz i stayed away from all purse shops was just browsing for shoes and left w/ this.. i'm kinda mad b/c i have 2 bags in the queue haven't worn yet and now this makes 3. The shopping fast is starting monday and what gonna make this one different is I'm making list of what constitutes breaking it b/c last time i got the socks and i tend to buy things that aren't really crazy purchases but I know i don't NEED these things so I gotta go cold turkey wit it...in order to help my shop-ho-lic spirit
