I have time to blog now.. Hello!
let see in the last year what's been up?
-Work: Quit my job at the big 4 much happier now.. still loving and working in infosecurity but the consultant life ay...I say this as we fedcontractor & govvies arise back from our furlough "holiday" meh...giving myself 1-2 years top I want to be working purely in the commercial work. My dream job is amazon.com which is in the DC Area trust I will get a job there!!
-NBA season soon: still playing fantasy basketball and venting about my Wizards. I guess my Lakers are gonna suck this year.. RIP Dr. Buss we are in turmoil
-Weight Loss: Not only have I kept my weight off from my highest weight ever to know I'm down a smooth 70 lbs.. but since late 2011 I've lost about 50 lbs.. amazing seriously. I'm down from 16/18 to 12.. I've never been this small EVER (as an adult). Yes the veganism helps but the exercise and the no car life in DC helps. I can now bike to work with my new job and I still walk everywhere.
-Half Marathon: Ran the inaugural Washington DC NIKE HalfMarathon in April: Again my old coworkers were the ones behind me getting in shape they run the marine corps, army 10 miler all the popular races so they were like leave that 5k baby stuff behind and go for the gold. Jogging is still growing on me but all winter I did my lil runs around the city..and ran (& WALKED ALOT) that joint in about 3 hours.
Let me tell you the next day this 31 year old body was in PAIN like slow walk pain LOL. What was most embarrassing my cowoker >50 did the race she was fine the next day. Horrible..my training was bad I did not get enough long runs (>.10miles) in so I shocked my body but damit I made it through the finish line and I would love to run this race again.
-Current Obsessions:
Technology, Technology, Technology - Before I get into this let me stamp that I've been a gadget junkie since a kid. Seriously in my only child world I was always an executive (cappy trait) LOL I had a filofax organizer as a kid, my family laced me with all gadgets the 1st was the almighty casio electronic organizer
and yes I had the ORIGINAL Palm Pilot during my last year of middle school.. 1st computer by 1995. My senior year of high school I was interning at our town's only internet service provider.. so again STAMPED geeked from the 90s baby LOL
Anyway I'm loving this era we are in.. coding/development is cool, gadgets are a plenty the internet has soo much for learning/growing. Social media overload - I've calmed down with twitter (got old), IG i like and FB will always be there but I do take SM breaks time to time-- its soo easy to get caught up.
Given my maturation as IT chick- tech is fun but I realize to make it you have to tie to business value. So tech strategy blogs/articles are my new thing. I'm sooo sad to see how Blackberry has faltered but I enjoy reading and watching the OS/Phone/Internet/Startup wars that are going on these days
My current tech portfolio: Phones I have 2 LOL - my main line is blackberry - I'm sorry and i did try but i need a physical keyboard ..i just do. My 2nd phone is Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (rooted) with Sprint (unlimited data) it serves as my modem to keep my ipad computer and friends gadgets online when we are in a pinch lol. Basic dell laptop, my old kindle DX (great for reading). I plan to build a badazz PC next year to help serve for virtualization testing and I do want a MBP.
Juicing: Move over vitamix j/k green smoothies 4 life but my treat to getting a new job in August was the purchase of an Omega Juicer - Love Love Love green juice .. working my way up mentally to do a juice fast one day
Apple: not the fruit...so I am an Android fangirl however when my job gave me the iphone last year; life changed LOL. I was able to understand the apple fan'ism the phone was simple too simple but easy to use and practical. Coupled with the fact that apps still goto iOS first I've purchased the 64GB - Retina ipad and that joint is my baby! I do want a macbook (eventually) but that $$$$$$$ Apple is overrated but its a lifestyle and those purchasing financially are capable hence the extraordinary sales.
Shopping: Not so much these days LOL...one I had to take a hiatus during the weight loss as my clothing size was all over the place so if It wasn't coming from a target sale rack - I did not buy. Major progress as many many people reminded me that I wouldn't be caught dead in target clothes a few years ago LOL. I have not purchased a designer bag in almost 2 year. that's all I gotta say about this topic people can change. Don't get it twisted the capricorn in me still love nice high end things but I'm learning how to be more financially responsible and purchase things not so spontaneous.
Welp that's its folks.. I'm hoping seriously to blog more and I want to migrate this blog to my own domain as I've learned how to manage wordpress sites..well see LOL

Work-
Still happy at my job lol the consultant life is so weird like but I' m getting used to it and I do like feeling more connected to my company like this firm has alot of resources and constantly holding events to keep us informed its good to be able to leave work and hit events without being penalized so that's the big + of the consultant lifestyle oh and I got a cool phone LOL was so on the edge of getting an Iphone as work phone just to be "cool" but I can't stand all touch devices so I went with a wack HTC Pro 2 its just OK I didn't want to have 2 Blackberries :(

don't have much to say
first of all let me make my official statement on Obama winning the election:
"I would say i'm happy that the racial divide in America is closing up some because I wasn't sure folks was gonna be down for a brother running things but I"m very impressed by the win and looking forward to the changes coming in america as long as it doesn't affect a sista's job lol but I'm also glad they my 94 yr old great aunt got to vote and be apart of history."
i've been in training the last 2 days; took this 4 day class called Information Assurance Boot Camp its a refresher cuz I took this course back in 2005 but they have renamed it since then and made it better. These dudes running the class OMG talk about relaxed lmao day 1 we get to leave at 230 to go vote which Thank GOD that there was no line at my local spot. Day 2 they told us we dont' have to be in until 10 because they knew folks were going to be up watching the votes come in. Since then we get like 4 breaks a hour lunch and class get out at 315 what the heck lol. They are spoiling me because I've been used to coming home no earlier than 7 pm the last few weeks. I'm not gonna know how to go back to 9-5 lol. Anyway the class is good its getting my brain re motivate to reconsider studying for the CISSP since we all know OCT was a failure in terms of achieving that goal. I'm not putting any promises out there yet but I needs to get that cert.
topic i'm not talking about until next year:

Call me a bitter fan but I'm still mad about the whole Gilbert Arenas situation. Not saying that brother didn't deserve to get paid but like we caked him out and boo-ya he had another knee surgery I'm just saying please don't be damaged goods because we Ok with out him but Great with him at 100% so I'm just praying when he come back in January it will be all good but until then since my man Wood out just about all season we kinda suck but I tune every now and them to see my man Butler killing them out there and to check out Nick Young and squad.
Team I'm following all the way to the championship game:

Let make this clear I've been a Laker fan since 2002 before that I didn't watch ball much but yeah I've stuck it out with the lakers through the last championship the drama the draft pics kobe and i was heartbroken when we went down to the Celtics (hate them) but we got my man Bynum back its time go hard and get these rings! My man Pjax time to get his 10th ring yessir...
So i'm wrestling with the idea of paying for the league pass so I can watch my Lakers squad but i don't because those west coast games be LATE and I'm sure enough can't be late for work messing with them games.

feelin it
1. falafel: I've seen it in many restaurant just not veggie spots so I finally asked someone wtf is this? They its like fried mash chickpeas so i was like hmm ok.. anyway the spot aka my new favorite vegetarian restaurant (Berwyn Cafe) made me a sample falafel patty to go with my meal for free talk about a sicer plus the joint was good yay. Perfect Pita bomb spot near work servers falafel so I will try it at work Monday- yes let me repeat that because I'm super blown I have to work Monday and I have a crucial meeting at that so grr I got prep myself Sunday since Sat I'm going to shop till I drop- okay not really but I do have to hit up the MAC makeup sale and I need some new work shirts desperately but err anyway post about the food not shopping :(
2. tofu lentil loaf- yumm.. its bomb because I love lentils but the tofu makes it filling..good with brown rice
3. Italian tofu balls w/ tomato sauce over brown rice- cranking dish from the cafe..man i didn't realize tofu can taste so good lol also feeling that switch up rice instead of pasta diggin that
4. new wholefoods based energy bar- BG Bar (Fortified with sprouted grains, greens, and Super Blue Green® Algae)- First of all I've been sleeping on the health benefits of sprouts (more on that later), the blue gree algae is out there but the bar tastes bomb, so you don't feel like you are eating "seaweed" lol. It also has 10g of protein which I need alot of due to me not eating any meat. Plus I do get a good energetic feeling after eating the bar usually for breakfast.
5. Sprouted Whole Grain Bread- Basically sprouted bread is bread made after some of the wheat germ has sprouted which gives your more vitamins & minerals and this bread is a good protein source as well. You have to keep it refrigerator so I've been eating it warmed with jelly nice filling snack.
6. Soy Dairy Products- I was such a soy milk hater but I guess my body's adjusted to it because I've been drinking soy milk by its self, also in my Sbux lattes and my cereal :0 . I've had soy based yogurt- eh I'm 50/50 it was good just very thick. I'm still a believer in organic skim milk and regular yogurt, so I'm going to keep thinking about if this will be a permanent switch or not.
So you can see I'm on day 12 of the Raw Foods Detox and other than moving my 1 hot meal around sometimes I'm staying true to the detox.
I have some more confessions I'm turning into a Youtube junkie.. not as in watching movies (been there done that) but as in uploading home made vidz (not those kinds perverts) but my fresh lil canon makes good small vidz for when me and my friends are out lunchin or I'm out visiting places.
For instance I went to a 'special place' last weekend lol a gay (dude) club. Down round Howard called Town Dance Boutique. It was an all out dance party with a drag queen show. My girl who I went with went to Nations (old dance club) before during a foam party night so she knew all about the twirling and glow sticks scene, me on other hand was like just like Wow lol more like Wow!
The Dragqueen was halarious I had no idea they were going to dance and lipsync. The lady/dude hosting the show was great she really got the audicne involved bought some gay white boyz on stage pratcially made him strip really OC. The show lasted about 1.5 and then it was 2 floors of disco lights and straight house music. The place was huge and they had a $3 acholic slushy drink machine OMG good and will get your fried. Man all the gay dancing I couldn't even party because I was laughing so hard at the twirling but it was fun espically because I love all genres of house music. I mos def will be going again hopefully I can find me a gay boyfriend to dance with me all night long.
Some movies from the night:

Status report on the Hometeams:
Nats: Season over.. worst record in the league (work on that)
Wizards: Trying to be an optimistic fan Arenas out, Haywood out (4-6 months) Jaimson (knee sprain should be ready opening night) Like I could deal with Arenas out but Haywood too unless the youngins on the squad are ready to step up big time we are going to struggle.
Caps: So blown about wizards might start watching hockey.
Redskins: Shining Stars out of the bruch (Thank God). Hopefully we will be safely 5-1 after Sunday just have to take it 1 game at time but folks need to stop sleepin on the team.

long time........ i kno i kno
want to take a quick moment to say RIP for those who lost their lives 9/11.
I didn't start working at the d-dpt until that next year 02, part time at that but let me tell ya.. had I been around during 9/11 I would quit the next day talk about scared for life.
my LLC license came in so I feel jive official..now the real work beings in terms of being a small business owner; business growth and maximizing profit! I'm excited and ready to begin the journey.
I went to the spa first time ever with my BFF last weekend. I've always declined going with my older lady friends just because I'm not comfy with a random people touching me, but I just allowed myself to be open minded plus I was tired of ppl sicing getting massages so I had to see what the big deal is for myself. We had the full works package; hour massage, facial, mani/pedi cure. The massage was cool, kinda hurt at times but I do think I will try it again based on the message therapist recommendations. He said a source of my many tension headaches is due to the knots in my neck & shoulder muscles, and my tendancy to hold my shoulder up instead of letting them naturally fall. Anything to help my headache burdans ease up, I'm so naturally tense maybe these massage sessions can help with stress management. The facial was fun- every 10 mins she was throwing gunk on my face and pointing the steamer at me. Got a nice lil happy glow going... We did some slight shopping at Columbia mall afterwards. I hadn't been there since like 2001 entire mall transformed. Not recapping the whole shopping trip but I picked up a new shade of my fav mac product slimshine lipstick nice fall color: Prudeaux- Dark rich burgundy plum.

I also picked up an 'mineral make up' (MMU) product- Bare Minerals I.D eyeshawdow. I wanted to see what the big deal of this MMU craze. All make up is made of minerals but the MMU is striped of some harsher chemcials and most people opt for Mineral based foundations etc because its less harsh on the skin. the MMU eyeshadow I got is a cute color but its sooo light and fluffy when I put it on my brush its like falling all over the place like dust. I really don't like the texture of it compared to my other shadows so I don't think I'll be switching over the MMU because I don't have sensative skin and I really don't wear foundation anyway.
I did cop the Chanel nailpolish mentioned here on my lunch break this week when I snuck over to Pentagon City for a few since my boss was gone hehe. I will be testing out the Blue Satin shade this week, hopefully it won't be chipping like crazy.

Coach has a vicious fall line up of kicks coming out. I like their tennis shoes; I only have one pair because I feel like once u have one pair of Coach canvas shoes no need to keep buying more and more, all they do is change the color of the C's. However they have some high top joints
that are effin vicious that $150 got me pondering so we'll see...some quick comments on the financial crises of the country..honestly I don't pride myself with knowing alot of about the economics principles & finances of the country besides 401k 101, but of course I followed the housing & subprime mortage crises. Once the gov't starting bailing out big corps I became addicted to reading the daily news about Lehman, AIG and the commentary backlash. The whole situation is making me look up and learn all these investment terms so I'm aware, but its funny yet not shocking how USA gov't allowed companies to wheel and deal with fake money (meaning invesements backed by subprime loans= debt and not profit). Sooooo many bammas got rich off the last few years of mortage mis-management its not even funny. Is the gov't gonna man- up and change the rules?? Who knows because this is a country where debt is looked as OK- hence our nation's deficit, the war spending, and now the new bill congress racked up bailing out corporations. I'm trying to target 09 to buy a house but I'm not going to force it and be house poor and though I'm working hard to pay down debt I shouldn't have racked up in the first place. I make sure that I'm drilling into my neices and other young folks I mentor heads not to abuse credit because not only is black america in debt but again the nation operatates as if it runs off an unlimited credit source. I'm just sayin you can't be mad at the folks who got mortagates knowing they couldn't afford the payments when the entire countries operates like debt is ok, chap 7 is ok- no problem. Keep in mind I'm not financial expert just venting about what I read in the post.
My last rant and it cringes me to type this :( but MAJOR F-U to the Wizards. First of all I did not agree with signing Arenas to 111 miyon$ deal; that's my cappy dude and he been great for the franchaise but right now (and I feel he can mature into) he's not the kinda guy that will lead this team to the ring- no offense. But com'on Abe Pollin, slim had 2 knee surgiers and yall max him out and what comes out of the wiz camp this week an annoucement: Gil to undergo a cleanup procedure out until at least Dec. I'm so pissed like I had my Wiz Tix hook up ready.. now I'm only going to games this season when I want to see the opposing team stars. yes I love Caron but no Gil makes everything boring and like other teams in the east improved- D.Wade is back. I hope we can get back into the playoffs but right now errything is looking sus' oh well :( My skins better keep me happy with Wins cuz imma be pissed off at the Wizards for a while!

my life my life my life.. in the sunshine
My mom's been staying with me for a week, she lives on Wed. Its our annual thing her coming to stay with me. Its been okay so far, though I'm so not used to having someone taking over my space who I can't put out easily lol, nor am I used to being ordered around. I took her grocery shopping on the 1st day because she like she needs meat in her life and she's not sure about eating all the "0-ganic" food I have in the house lol. Its cool though she's cooking every night bought some authentic Eastern Shore crabmeat up along with some handpicked strawberries and white corn..yum nothing beats that fresh out the dirt taste lol. She has helped me clean up the apt some basically no mess is tolerated. I eat something leave the plate on the table.. come back past she's already washed and put it away like a cleaning Fiend. I will miss her presence after tomorrow but I'll be glad to have my TV back lol she be hogging that joint.
Harry potter- I'm tired of the madness.. seeing hordes of people (all ages) reading the newest book. I know its sci-fi/fantasy which is a genre I don't like but I do love literature, and curiosity has gotten the best of me. I've reserved book 1 from the local library, I'll post my opinion when I/m done reading.
FBI- Not that I would ever want to work from these guys but I know folks used to be griping about there extreme drug policy. If you danced w/ Maryjane more that 15 times forget about it..I guess someone realized how dumb, stupid this rule was hence its been changed slightly. Read full article here.
The buttoned-down FBI is loosening up: Under a little-noticed new hiring policy introduced this year, job applicants with a history of drug use will no longer be disqualified from employment throughout the bureau.I think 3 years is adequate you shouldn't still be in that lifestyle if you aspire to be working for the upper echelon fedz but realistically you can't Ban folks for doing what young folks do.. i think tis a good comprise give folks a chance to redeem past actions. But those polys they make you take are suspect I know 2 people who failed from the drugs question who never touched anything illegal in there lives.. need work on secondary way to prove the truth. Quietly many professionals are still blowing trees and some whites are into that nose candy everyone on the low...
Old guidelines barred FBI employment to anyone who had used marijuana more than 15 times in their lives or who had tried other illegal narcotics more than five times.
Outside the FBI, most other federal agencies take a subjective look at past drug use by prospective employees. Here's a look at how some agencies weigh youthful indiscretion against more habitual use.
But those strict numbers no longer apply. Applicants for jobs such as analysts, programmers or special agents must still swear that they have not used any illegal substances recently -- three years for marijuana and 10 years for other drugs -- but they are no longer ruled out of consideration because of more frequent drug use in the past.
Andray Blatch- Bamma of the week! if you haven't read in the post already he got arrested for soliciting a prostitute. LOL this his strike 2 because his rookie year he got shot in an attempted car jacking. I still want him on our squad at minimal costs because I think he can be possible starter to good role player, plus the Wizards need SIZE+ DEPTH!!! Here's a chat transcript from his arrest Source: Washington Post
Defendant 1 (identified by police as Blatche) : "Hey, what's up with you?"
Undercover cop: "You tell me."
AB: I'm trying to see what you're doing."
UC: "Do you want (Blank) or (Blank)?"
AB: "Well, I want both."
UC: "And what about you?"
D-2 (identified as Palmer) : "I want the same."
UC: "I charge $80 but I do two at the same time."
AB: "Yeah, I'm good with it."
UC to Palmer: "And what about you?"
GP: "Yeah, $80 is good."
UC: Aight, you want to pull right?"
AB: "Naw."
UC: "I have a room right here."
AB: "Uh, ok?"
Jill Scott- Listen to the sampler-

CISSP Boot camp- Less than 2 weeks away For those not in the IT world a boot camp is 5-7 days away in local hotel where you go prepare for the exam you are prepped from 830am- 10pm, plus independent study is going on through out the hotel. I take the exam on Aug 24th. I'm supposed to be studying 25 hours prior to arriving on the 19th. The actually number of hours studied for Aug= 4. I have to step my game up something serious, because this the one blessing from this crappy job they paid the bill for camp ($2495) and the test ($500) and I don't want to have to come out of pocket to re-take the exam.
Next blog= NBA breakdown, league pass is essential this season..w/ the new rookies and the trades YES!

First Blog Spot Post
Before I get going want to say Happy B-day (RIP) to my cappy-sis Aaliyah
We Love you Baby-Girl!!
Yes I"m on a blog roll:
Topics today:
The creation of a D.C Superstar: LA has Kobe, Clevand Lebron, Miami D.Wade- and DC has been bone dry (we not even gonna go there w/ the whole Mike Jordan expirement)..but and lets get this straight EARLY- I'm not a hop-on wiz fan. I became one back in 02-03 when 2 terps (Juan Dix, Steve Blake) were drafted.. so now that ya'll know I've seen the franchise go from Zero to Zero (LOL) haha meaning shoot if you ain't know I've talked about him before but its just amazing to see a Down-to-earth brother single handly ressurect a franchaise.. and if you missed Monday's MLK Game.. you missed the dagger play (second time this has happend)..Arenas.. takes the clock down.. goes out beyond the 3pt line then _ all he wrote but the DAGGER is.. he knows the shot is good so he walks off before the 'ish goes in (BOLD)!!!
All i can say is Feb 22nd babye.. i'll be at my 2nd wiz game of the season section 102 indeed!!
and while we on the subject of NBA: Buyouts- Basically the franchise can cut/terminate a players contract by the owner and playing agreeing to a sum. Afterwords the player is free to sign with another team. This just happend to Chris Webber sixer terminated his contract for like 20 million something saving them a lil dough meanwhile.. Chris just signed w/ the Pistons looking for that ring. Hellz no If I owned an NBA franchise and I got beef w/ a player or whatever.. im not gonna pay him off and let him sign with another team. He will sit on the bench and suffer or If I pay one them ballaz off better belive its gonna be for less than half the total value of the contract. Its not right how these bammas making millions.. acting like babies then make even more - No GOOD!
Tired.. and working on a transition to blogspot.. I love xanga but the closed comments is - No GOOD!
So I'll be back tomorrow w/ more ramblings:
Gotta talk about Iphone hype
Potomac River
